HOSPITALIZATION:
We at the Barfield Clinic recognize that health care is growing ever more complex. In addition to specialists in specific areas of medicine, we now have sub-specialists who are experts in ever narrowing fields. With this growing complexity in mind, we have chosen to use the Middle Tennessee Medical Center Hospitalists' Group to care for our patients in the hospital environment. Published research has demonstrated that hospitalist physicians have better inpatient outcomes and higher patient satisfaction scores all while decreasing costs when compared to traditional family and internal medicine physicians who also have clinic practices.1,2,3

DOT (Department of Transportation) PHYSICALS:
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires that a medical screening exam be obtained for most persons operating a vehicle for commercial reasons. Are you required to obtain a DOT Health card? Follow this link and see... FMCSA.
If you do, we offer the lowest prices locally for the screening exam. The service includes: exam, urinalysis, health form, and a laminated wallet-size health card. Additional testing is rarely needed, but not covered within this cost of the exam. Save time by completing the health history section of the form before you come in. If you are a new patient please also complete the new patient data form.
Two items to remember are that: 1) the exam is not covered by insurance policies, and; 2) the exam is not a preventative health screening exam. It is simply used to determine fitness for driving.
Fee Schedule
Cash-pay: $70.00
If you are unsure if you have any health conditions that exclude you from driving, please follow this link.

SPORTS PHYSICALS:
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) requires that a medical screening exam be obtained for students participating in sponsored events. We at the Barfield Clinic follow the national recommendations set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics. The exam includes a health history, physical exam (including scoliosis screening), vision screening and urinalysis (urine testing for 10 chemicals including blood, glucose, and infection). Patients must be 18 years or younger. Remember the exam is not covered by insurance, but only costs $35.00.
Save time by completing the health history form before you arrive. Patients 17 years and younger should have the completed form signed by a parent or guardian prior to the exam. You may also print the TSSAA emergency treatment form.
